Amazon has slashed the price of BaByliss' Hydro-Fusion Hair Straightener and Styler in half

Straighteners are possibly one of the most expensive beauty tools you will own, but as they last a long time, the results of sleek, smooth and oh-so glamorous hair on a daily basis are utterly worth it. They can cost anywhere from £29.99 (a more budget friendly pair) to £400 and the more expensive, the better quality you're likely receive (usually). However, Amazon has slashed the cost off a huge portion of its products ahead of Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, which takes place on 10 and 11 October, and a pair of BaByliss Hydro-Fusion Hair Straighteners, which usually cost £100, are included, which is a game changer for those after a new pair of this October.

Now costing £49.99 for a limited time, these straighteners have "blown away" customers who would usually reach for the GHDs when their old pair gives up, converting them - with a number of shoppers remarking on the ionic plate technology that gives a smooth, frizz-free finish.

One wrote: "The plates are extremely smooth and they GLIDE through your hair and I mean, glide! There are blue lights underneath the plates that light up and I believe this indicates the "hydro fusion" technology actively working. When you're straightening your hair, steam actually comes out from the plates. This is the moisturising ionic system working so that it takes out any frizz from your hair whilst also keeping it hydrated."

Being included in the Hydro-Fusion collection, the straighteners can be bought on their own or together with the hair dryer and brush and promises a smooth and sleek finish whether you're using the straighteners to, well, straighten or if you wish to mix it up a bit and give yourself some curls - the straighteners' rounded casing helps with this. These straighteners also have an Advanced Ceramics heating system which means you don't to wait five-to-ten minutes to get cracking on your hair and you can choose from five digital heat settings, ranging from 150°C to 235°C, to make sure your hair remains healthy (and not singed off - something we all aim for in our hair routine when using heat-based tools).

And the proof that they work is clear as a plethora of shoppers have had their expectations exceeded. One said: "Brilliant straighteners perfect for my frizzy, fine but curly hair. Great that it's got temperature control so I can keep it lower with my hair being much finer than others."

Another got technical and said: "Okay, I’m a scientist. So was definitely interested in these claims about ‘ionic technology’, ions are charged particles and essentially the ionic technology will reduce frizz and static in your hair - if it works - which I’m happy to report that it does!"

"I would normally go for GHD's over BaByliss but I've really been blown away by these Hydro-Fusion Straighteners and actually think these are far better on my hair!" said another five-star reviewer who was really impressed, "Having dry and colour damaged hair, I will literally use these any day over my GHD's as I've never had my hair feel so soft and hydrated after using straighteners before."

While the vast majority of reviews of this product have sung its praises, some Amazon shoppers were a little disappointed. One stated "They just don't get hot enough and cannot get my hair as straight as other straighteners have. I don't agree with the other reviews stating their hair was left shiny. They left my hair quite dry and coarse," while another wrote: "However, I didn't find the results particularly impressive. I have extremely fine hair, but the lowest two settings did practically nothing, neither for straightening nor for curling. It also didn't reduce the frizziness of my hair any more than a quality brush would. It's nice enough, but not great value at its current £100 price in my opinion."

If you're a die hard GHD fan, then Amazon has also dropped the price of its Gold Styler straighteners to £139 from £179. For a tool that claims to be kinder on the hair, but costs quite a bit more, the L'Oréal Professional Steampod 3.0 Steam Hair Straightener & Styling Tool is £235 from Boots. Remington always comes through with more budget friendly options - without skimping on the quality - and one example is these Shea Soft Hair Straighteners which cost £69.99 and have ceramic plates that are coated in shea oil to give your lock a healthy shine.
