Baldur’s Gate 3 update buffs the Magic Mirror to add customisable hirelings
Larian Studios continues to update and fix its acclaimed RPG on with yet another hotfix designed to squash bugs.
Well, the hotfixes for Baldur’s Gate 3 keep coming and they don’t stop coming. Because hot on the heels of Hotfix #8 reshaving popular cat NPC His Majesty and leaving you less encumbered when dismissing party members (amongst a suite of other fixes) developer Larian Studios rounded of the week by sneaking out another Baldur's Gate 3 update, Hotfix #9. Available now for players on both PC and PS5, it’s again targeted at providing fixes, but there are a couple new features focused on personalisation added to the RPG too.
The headline feature for the new Baldur’s Gate update is the addition of customisable hirelings, the characters you’re able to temporarily recruit to aid and join your party. Larian has taken note of fans’ request to be able to change their appearance, and now they can so as to help make them feel like a genuine party of your team alongside regulars such as Astarion and Shadowheart. This can be done by visiting the in-game Magic Mirror, where people can now also change their player-character’s name.
Outside of this, Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix #9 provides the expected litany of balance tweaks and bug fixes. The patch notes – found on the game’s Steam support page – detail that an issue has been fixed where character animations would break when certain dialogue lines are skipped, for instance, and a split-screen glitch on PlayStation has been fixed that will no longer see the game blackscreen when listening in on some instances of dialogue.
