Arsenal are preparing for an acid test of their title credentials when they host Pep Guardiola ’s Manchester City in Sunday's showdown at the Emirates.

The Premier League clash between the pair at the same venue last season ended in a 3-1 win for City, a result cited as pivotal in the eventual outcome of the title. But Mikel Arteta has injury headaches to negotiate, with key man Bukayo Saka appearing doubtful after being injured in themidweek Champions League defeat to Lens.

England and Arsenal could agree for Bukayo Saka to be rested for the friendly clash with Australia as part of an injury ‘compromise’.

The forward is a major doubt ahead of Sunday's clash with Manchester City after limping off in the midweek defeat at Lens. And yet, he was surprisingly named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming international break.

However, The FA are reportedly willing to compromise. According to Mail Online, members of Arsenal and England’s medical staff have agreed the star will report to St George’s Park with the remainder of the squad, but will be rested for Friday’s game with the Socceroos.

Haaland "knew" Arsenal would bottle title race

Erling Haaland knew that Manchester City would retain their Premier League crown last season after thrashing Liverpool at the Etihad back in April.

That month proved to be the decisive one in the title race, with Arsenal winning just one of their five games. That run culminated in a 4-1 pummelling at the Etihad, but Haaland has now revealed that he was adamant City would remain champions well before that clash.

After being asked to pinpoint the moment he knew the title race was done, Haaland said: "For me, it was the Liverpool game at home, I was so nervous. They went 1-0 up but but if I knew if we won this [match], we would win [the title]."

Crouch makes "great game" prediction

TNT Sports pundit Peter Crouch is expecting big things from Arsenal's game with Manchester City.

Working as a pundit on the Luton v Tottenham clash, which the visitors won 1-0, he said: “I’ve gone for 2-2. Goals! It’s not a bore draw, I think it’s end to end stuff. I think it’ll be a great game.

“The two best teams quite often pull out some of the best games and I just think these two are great sides at the moment. I love watching them play. I just think they’ll put on a show.”
