Emmerdale announces new arrival as DNA bombshell tears two characters apart
Emmerdale has confirmed a new arrival will debut on the ITV soap in upcoming scenes, amid a major DNA bombshell for two characters.
Jai Sharma finally told his secret brother Suni Sharma the truth about how they are related, with Suni still believing they were cousins. The pair have not known for their entire lives that they share a dad, after Suni's father had an affair with Jai's mother Georgia. Georgia fell pregnant, and Rishi Sharma helped her raise his brother's child, claiming Jai to be his own son.
Just months ago Jai discovered he was adopted and Rishi was not his biological dad, leading to the bombshell that his real dad was his uncle, Rishi's brother. Suni was left reeling in scenes after finally being told the truth - but there's not long for him to process it, as a surprise is in store for both brothers.
It's now been revealed that their dad Amit is joining the show, and he shocks them with his arrival. This will be the first time both Jai and Suni will have seen Amit since the truth was revealed to either of them, and since Rishi's tragic death.
Emmerdale viewers will see the arrival of a new character on the ITV soap (ITV)Speaking to The Mirror and other press, show producer Laura Shaw spilled on the arrival of Amit and what it might mean for Jai and Suni following the discovery they are siblings. She said: "We’ve got some new people joining us as well. You’re going to meet Anil Goutam who plays Amit shortly – a new character joining us as part of the Sharma family.

"Obviously, we found out not so long ago that Rishi was actually not Jai’s biological father, and actually Jai’s father is Amit, who is Rishi’s brother and Suni’s father. So, clearly, we weren’t going to leave that one hanging for too long before we brought Amit in. What you’ll see with Amit is quite a dark and complex character, and although we see Suni wanting to stick around, could Suni end up regretting that? Is Amit hiding another secret that threatens to blow the whole family apart?"
The arrival comes just months after the tragic death of Jai's father Rishi, with actor Bhasker Patel written out of the show after 12 years. Fans were devastated as Rishi was killed off in an unexpected twist just hours after he revealed the truth to Jai about his biological father.
Rishi tragically suffered a fall down the stairs and died, with no one realising. The fact he didn't take up Jai's invite to attend his wedding reception sparked concern, but it wasn't until the next day that Jai found his dad dead at the bottom of the stairs in his home.
