McDonald's brings back classic much-loved sandwich months after its 'retirement'
McDonald’s is set to bring a class and much-loved sandwich - months after it was scrapped.
The McRib was due to come off the menu for good after a farewell tour last year - however it's set to come out of retirement already. The fast-food chain confirmed the boneless barbecue pork sandwich will return to some locations next month.
A McDonald’s representative told The New York Post: "It turns out not everyone was ready to say goodbye to the McRib." Food blogger @snackolator announcement the return on their Instagram page - sparking fans into a frenzy of excitement.
One fan wrote: "Like Cher it’s back!!!! Thank the snack gods." Another agreed, adding, “Glad it’s not the last time we all can enjoy eating it too bad it’s not a permanent part of the menu.”
The post was captioned: "It turns out not everyone was ready to say goodbye to the McRib after last year’s Farewell Tour. While it won’t be available nationwide, some lucky fans may find their favourite elusive saucy sandwich at their local McDonald’s restaurants this November."

Much like other limited items recently (Cookies and Creme pie, Spicy McNuggets, etc) this will not be in every market of the country, but should make a lot of fans happy.
"I'm still confused how a Farewell Tour can be just a year, but I don't think fans are going to care all that much. Are you going to be grabbing the McRib this time around?" Last month it was reported McDonald's could make a major change to how drink service works - and not all customers will be pleased. The national chain is reportedly set to AXE the self-serve drink machines - in favour of employees pouring customers drinks instead.
A McDonald’s representative told The New York Post: "It turns out not everyone was ready to say goodbye to the McRib" (Mcdonalds)The divisive move, first reported by The State Journal-Register of Illinois, is set to disappear as owners raise problems with hygiene, theft, and consumer eating habits. Instead, there will be a drink machine behind the counter that workers will use for all dine-in and take-out orders. Several local franchise holders have reported that the big change comes from corporate, which plans to begin the transition in Summer 2024.
Without the drink fountains, employees will be responsible for filling customers' cups. The McDonald franchisee world calls it the crew pouring system: crew members will automatically fill a customer's drink with a machine hidden behind the counter. Brand-new cups will be used for refills. This will minimize contact and leave little room for Covid infections.
McDonald's franchisees said that there were multiple gains from this decision. The removal of the soft-serve soda fountains helps keep germs at bay. Especially with the new Covid variantS EG.5 and BA.2.86.
