Prince Harry's reputation was 'saved by Royal Family' before dramatic exit

Prince Harry had a lot to thank his family for before his departure from royal duties, according to an expert.

The Duke of Sussex's image is said to have "tanked" following his decision to leave his senior role. But, it's said his reputation was being held together by his family in the first place after a number of potential controversial moments growing up in the spotlight.

Harry, 39, is said to have wanted to "curate' his own appearance according to writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue. But in doing so, she says he his image majorly suffered.

She told Sky News Australia: "Ever since he’s left and he’s been completely in charge of his image, alongside his wife Meghan Markle, it’s completely tanked. And it just shows that sometimes actually having the protection of people you may not always agree with is a blessing more than a curse."

Harry and Meghan packed up their royal life in 2021 and currently resides stateside with his wife and two kids; Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2. Both Harry and Meghan have tried to forge a media career, with huge contracts with the likes of Netflix and Spotify - and have hit out at the royals on a number of occasions.

While the Netflix partnership is seemingly still going strong, with their docu-series Harry & Meghan a huge success, as well as Harry's Heart of Invictus, their Spotify podcast only lasted a single series before being axed.

Earlier this week a Spotify boss revealed the contract could have came to an end simply because it didn't "make consumers happy". In an interview with BBC the company's chief executive said: "We thought new innovation was needed to happen here. We thought we can come in and offer a great experience that both makes consumers very happy and allows new creators new avenues."

He continued: "And the truth of the matter is some of it has worked, some of it hasn't. We're learning from those and we are moving on and we wish all of the ones we didn't renew with the best of success they can have going forward."

Other sources said to be close to the whopping £18million deal previously claimed the podcast was dropped as it didn't produce enough content to warrant the full payment.
