Tottenham's Micky van de Ven gives verdict on title chances after stunning start
Micky Van de Ven insists Tottenham’s flying start is no surprise to him.
And the Dutch defender insists getting back into the Champions League was always the target - and “fearless” Spurs are not ruling out an unlikely title challenge. Van de Ven has played a huge part in Tottenham ’s impressive start to the campaign which has put them up to second place in the Premier League after their first win over Liverpool since 2017.
Centre-half Van de Ven said: “It’s early too say if we are title candidates this year but we will keep pushing, keep pushing and we’re gonna see. We want the best this season so we’re gonna see where it will end.
“We are not afraid of any team. We will keep playing our way and hopefully we can improve even more from how we are playing now and hopefully we can keep pushing.
“I think of course you want Champions League because it’s the highest you can get next to being champions but it’s the biggest tournament and of course that’s our goal for the season.”

We have so much quality of course - I say of course but you never know how it will happen but I trusted that we would have a good season.
“It’s really good in the dressing room. I think the mentality of the whole team was really good, we kept pushing, pushing and pushing and of course sometimes you think it’s going to be easier when they get the red card or maybe two red cards but you see against Liverpool they are really good team.
“They made it even harder when they have ten people, nine people, on the pitch but we kept pushing until the last minute and we scored the winning goal.”
