Whether there is a deeper meaning behind it or you simply like the way it sounds, there are many different reasons why parents decide on a name for their baby.

But one woman has been left feeling distraught after falling out with her lifelong friend over the name of her child. In a heartbreaking tragedy, the friend Camille had lost her baby during childbirth, who was called Ingrid. However, things escalated when the woman revealed her intentions to give her baby the middle name Ingrid, which caused Camille to “burst into tears inconsolably”.

Taking to Reddit's AITA forum, the anonymous user explained that Camille started "yelling at me that I was selfish and an idiot for stealing her baby’s name." She wrote: "My reason is simple. I want to name it after my little cousin who passed and was like a sister to me. I always knew I would name my daughter after her.

"Camille knew about my Ingrid and was even at her last goodbye. When she told me about her baby’s name, I was a little upset, but I never said anything because I didn’t own the name." She said that since the heated disagreement, Camille's family have reportedly branded the woman "insensitive", adding that she doesn’t know what to do.

Responding to the post, fellow Reddit users have shared their thoughts on the difficult situation. One person shared: "She already knew about your Ingrid when she chose her baby name. If anything, she stole the name," while another echoed: "You have a good reason for naming your baby Ingrid. You're not being hateful or insensitive. In a certain sense, one could argue Camille stole the name first unless she had a good reason for picking Ingrid for her baby."

Others expressed that the situation was blown out of proportion, as the woman was using it as a middle name. "NTA, it’s a middle name. Most people don’t use their middle name in everyday conversation. It shouldn’t even be an issue," penned a third. Another wrote: "NTA. First off, you’ve been planning on using the name for years. Second, nobody 'owns' a name. Third, you’re using it as the middle name."

In contrast, some users have accused the woman of being insensitive for using the name, as one person posted: "Oh my god how can you be so cruel. Yes YTA! I also have a friend who lost her baby and I’d never do that to her. Even if my cousin had the same name." A second agreed: "I know this opinion is unpopular, but YTA for not only being insensitive but also giving your unborn child the burden of living life on behalf of not one, but two dead girls. That is harsh, but I would personally NOT want that to be part of the story behind MY name."
