Our 7 most recommended fragrances to look out for during the sales
For many of us a perfume or aftershave is something we can't leave the house without, but the best ones can cost a pretty penny. It's not unusual to wait for a sale to crop up to get your hands on your favourite scent.
It's quite a personal thing, but it's the first present many of us think of for gifts. Whether it's picking something up for Christmas or proving that you know them on their birthdays, fragrances are often a great option.
There are so many out there on the market but here at the Mirror we've pooled together some of our favourite and signature scents that we always look out for during sales. Here are our recommendations.
Kayali Vanilla | 28 Eau de Parfum (Kayali)Jada Jones recommends Kayali Vanilla 28. She said: "I've been a fan of Kayali fragrances for a long time, and multiple live in my collection with them being a popular gift for me to receive at Christmas, but the one I'll be looking for this Black Friday is Vanilla 28. I've had a 10ml bottle in my collection for a long time and while I love it, I never want to run out.
"It's a cosy scent that transports you to being tucked up under a blanket while the leaves start to turn and one of my favourite scents. While it is a brown colour and as a result not safe for wearing on white clothing. I love it in the colder months but I'm a fan of vanilla based fragrances all year."
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'
Paco Rabanne Black XSLucy Addicot is a fan of Paco Rabanne Black XS. She said: "Paco Rabanne Black XS has been my favourite perfume for years - it's one I always reach for and replace when finished. I prefer a heady fragrance over light and fresh scents, and this fits the bill perfectly.
"It features notes of cranberry, pink pepper, black vanilla husk and sandalwood, which combine to make a deep woody scent with a fruity finish. It also has amazing staying-power so it's great value, under £100 for 80ml - I can still smell it on my skin, hair and clothes at the end of the day with no top-ups.
"In general, I would say this fragrance is more of an evening scent but I find it works equally as well for both day and night as it's not overly heavy but still has a sophistication that you typically want from an evening scent. They also have a Paco Rabanne Black XS For Him which is slightly zesty, with notes of cinnamon, black cardamom and sage."
Salt Caramel from Shay and BlueBethan Shufflebotham loves Salt Caramel from Shay and Blue. She wrote: "My favourite fragrance is without a doubt Salt Caramel from Shay and Blue, and while I do use it year round, it’s a scent that really comes into its own during the ‘-ber’ months. Inspired by sea salt caramel truffles, it’s a super comforting, cosy fragrance that smells good enough to eat.
"With notes of Caribbean Tonka bean and sandalwood, it’s got a beautiful balance between sweet, salty, masculine and feminine. What’s great is that it’s a unisex fragrance, too - because I’m a big believer in wearing fragrances you love regardless of who they’re marketed to.
"Warm, deep, rich and luxurious, it’s incredibly addictive and feels like a cup of hot chocolate after an autumnal walk on the beach. Usually £55, it’s currently on sale at Debenhams for £44."
BadSam Jones swears by Bad from Diesel. He said: "When it comes to my favourite aftershave I'd have to go for Diesel Bad, and not just because it's the easy answer when I'm flooded with the 'what do you want for Christmas' question next month. At around £25-£30, depending where you shop, it's reasonably priced and I've always found the smell to last well.
"I've never been one to spend a fortune on scents as there are many things I'd rather buy, but Bad fits nicely into a price range where it's not going to break the bank, but is far better than some of the budget rubbish out there that seems to last minutes before the smell vanishes. The leather-look coating on the bottle is also a nice touch."
Black OrchidChris Burns has been wearing Black Orchid for half a decade. He penned: "I first tried Black Orchid by Tom Ford around five years back and I've rarely looked elsewhere for an aftershave since.
"It's a rich mix of sweet but spicy, warm but tough and, crucially, the longer in the day you are it never manages to lose its sharpness. I've tried other variations of Tom Ford such as Velvet Orchid and I've been a big fan but nothing comes close to the luxury and cool of Black Orchid."
Argos shoppers rush to buy Hy-Pro Football Table that's slashed to half price
Mugler CologneNarin Flanders is partial to Mugler Cologne. She wrote: "Sometimes you want a fragrance that packs a punch, something that makes an impact and paired with an outfit makes a real statement.
"But sometimes you just want something that feels light, bright and makes you smile. Cologne is my favourite scent for that and the biggest bottle on my shelf - I'll switch between other fragrances depending on my mood and the occasion, but as a quality, everyday scent Mugler unisex (the original, not any of the later versions) is my go-to.
"Cologne's citrus scent always gives me a burst of energy, it feels fresh and zesty without being too sickly sweet. It feels classic, deceptively simple and is great as a scent you grab out of your bag mid-way through the day to spritz on to reinvigorate and brighten my mood."
Marc Jacobs Decandence (Image: Fragrance Direct)Stacey Dutton is a huge fan of Marc Jacobs Decadence and has been wearing it sporadically for three years or so. She penned: "The scent is so sultry to me (I get the the same nostalgic potency as Opium by YSL from my whole childhood my mum wearing it religiously). It's strong, powerful and ultra longlasting without giving me a headache. I have never been a big fan of floral notes in a perfume, I prefer the heady woods and deeper ingredients which make a perfume almost quite masculine in a way."
"I must admit, I love how luxurious the bottle looks too, the added pizzazz of a mini Marc Jacobs handbag bottle really made me want to purchase it even moreso. It's a tasteful scent that really makes me feel glamorous- I remember first trying it when purchasing it on offer for myself around Christmas time and knowing that from that day on it stole a special place on my dresser."
At £89.10 for 100ml at AllBeauty, it's not one of the cheapest scent's I've ever purchased but by far the most affordable for such a luxurious choice, and it does last me much longer than most perfumes.
