Meghan Markle is reportedly gearing up to release a memoir

Meghan Markle is planning to release her own memoir, according to reports, but one expert has issued a warning to the Duchess of Sussex.

The former actress is yet to confirm any plans to write a memoir, but it's thought she will be following in the footsteps of her husband Prince Harry who released his tell-all memoir Spare earlier this year. The book featured a number of allegations against members of the Royal Family, with Harry detailing his broken relationship with his brother Prince William.

In Spare, Harry claimed William pushed him to the floor during a row at his Kensington Palace home, leaving him with a ripped necklace and bruises. He also hit out at his father, King Charles.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Spare broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time. Entertainment commentator Mark Boardman believes Meghan's memoir could be just as popular but said she faces a tough few months.

"Meghan’s facing a dilemma over her future. This is going to be the most challenging 12 months for her as she works out where she sits in the entertainment world," he said. The expert also said she will have some "big challenges" ahead of her as fans eagerly wait to see what she does next.

Mark suggested one dilemma Meghan will face is that her memoir would be a "massive seller worldwide", but could also receive the same criticism as Harry's book. He suggested she will have to go through all of the feedback from Spare and use that to decide what direction to take her own memoir in.

However, Mark warned that publishers will be hoping Meghan spills more gossip on life inside the Royal Family. He warned: "Once that information is out there in print, there will be absolutely no coming back from it. This could literally be a career breaker.”

If Meghan did speak out about The Firm, Mark told OK! magazine it could create "a new wave of controversy". Instead, he suggested Meghan needs to release a memoir which "shows her in the best light".

Meghan and Harry previously opened up about their time in the Royal Family in their Netflix docuseries. In the show, Harry detailed the breakdown of his relationship with his brother Prince William and claimed he left him terrified after he screamed and shouted at him during the Sandringham summit. Harry also alleged members of Kensington Palace had then "lied to protect my brother".
