Love Island's Scott Van-Der-Sluis shares brutal truth of selection process

Love Island star Scott Van-Der-Sluis has revealed the shocking truth behind the selection process of the reality TV dating show.

The 22 year old star, who is now considered to be an OG of Love Island after appearing in both the UK and US versions of the show, has said that contestants have been turned away at the last minute for failing an STI test. Speaking to former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison on her podcast, Vicky Pattison: The Secret To, the goal keeper said: "I went back to London for a medical." In response, Vicky then said: "What was in your medical Scott?"

He explained: "They had blood tests." And it was at this point she jumped in to state: "Making sure you haven't got STIs and that!" The TV personality agreed and added: "Exactly. Yes, you can't go into the villa with anything. I have actually heard stories that it has stopped people going into the villa. Because, they come up with something."

After appearing on both versions of the dating show, Scott was quick to acknowledge that he is prepared to go back to his non-celebrity life, once his shelf life runs out. He continued: "But there’s so much going on now. I’m this young once and I would regret not doing some of the stuff I’ve been offered to do. And I think anyone else would do the same ultimately.”

Despite being on both the UK and US versions, Scott hasn't had much luck when it comes to finding love - in fact it was disasterous as he was dumped just days in to the US show. The goalie for Shelbourne F.C had met Johnnie Olivia in the Fiji villa. But the pair were dumped after viewers were asked to vote for their favourite couple - cutting short Scott and Johnnie's time in the villa.

Speaking of their shock exit, Johnnie explained: "Leaving together feels relieving, because I came in here to find a person – my person, and I feel like I made such a great connection. We’ll see where it goes.” Clealry sharing the same sentiment, Scott added: “My time in the villa was short, sweet, but worthwhile. I’m excited to see how the connection with this one goes. I like being around her.” Despite some fans being excited to see Scott's return, others branded him a "game player" as they sparked speculation of him knowing that he was set to join the US version while filming for the UK one.

While on the UK version of the reality TV show, Scott had grown close to Catherine Agbaje and at the time they appeared to reunite after leaving the villa. Fans were hoping to see love blossom between the pair but that was short lived when he joined the US version as a bombshell in August.
