Terrified Brits praise 'life-changing' £12 spider catcher for grabbing critters
There's no denying spider season is truly among us - and if you've noticed a surge in the eight-legged monsters invading, you're not the only one.
As they start to make their way indoors, looking for shelter and warmth as they plague our homes, Brits will do anything to keep the creepy crawlies away.
Thankfully, one spider catcher has been hailed a "lifesaver" for terrified homeowners battling the beasts, and is something every arachnophobe should know about. The nifty tool costs just £14.99 on Amazon, and people have said it makes catching spiders "fun".
The nifty device is also an ethical way to get rid of them (Amazon)As well as spiders, the DSL Spider Catcher can be used to get rid of other insects such as flies, mosquitoes and cockroaches too and one raving shopper couldn't get enough of it. Posting their review on Amazon, they wrote: "I'm terrified of spiders and insects and always had to get my husband to collect them for me until he said do it yourself, so I got this. I wasn't to sure at the time but I love it best decision I've made all year If only it was durable enough to get rid of the husband too."
One arachnophobe claims they now couldn't live without the device as it "really does the intended job" as they claim they're "plagued with spiders". They shared: "Since I got it I had captured and released about 12 very large spiders (I have severe arachnophobia) but this device saves me having to go too near them, but have discovered the huge ones actually run towards you - scares the living daylights out of me - but since I've got the spider catcher I don't feel as 'challenged'. Highly recommend as this device actually works with most insects (those I've tried) and spiders."

Although it might need a bit of practice in order to use it correctly as one terrified person wrote: "It hasn't worked for me but maybe I just need more practice. Tried twice and it didn't catch the spider, which then ran under the bed, ruining my sleep. I have reverted back to the tried and trusted glass and paper method but will try again one day with the hard-to-reach spiders."
If you prefer a more natural repellent, experts recommend adding up to 20 drops of peppermint oil to water to make up a spray. If you aren't a fan of peppermint specifically, a few other scents might work, as spiders reportedly don't like strong smells. You could alternatively opt for lavender, eucalyptus, or citronella. Be sure to place, spray, or sprinkle strong-smelling items around windowsills, doors, and skirting boards.
Another technique to try is the chalk method. According to experts, spiders taste with their feet and they're really not keen on the taste of chalk, so drawing a line of chalk around your bed, along window frames, doorways and other areas will create no-go spider zones which they won't want to cross.
