A woman who says she was assaulted by Manchester United star Antony is due to fly to the UK next week to speak to police.

Gabriela Cavallin, 22, the player’s ex-girlfriend, is expected to interviewed by detectives after arriving from Brazil. The DJ and influencer has claimed the Brazilian international assaulted her on four occasions between June 2022 and May this year.

It is understood two of the alleged incidents took place in the UK and police in both Britain and South America are investigating the claims. The winger was put on a “leave of absence” by the Old Trafford club earlier this month but is still being paid his £200,000 a week wages.

Antony, 23, has denied the allegations and in a statement said: "I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me. This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my teammates and unnecessary controversy for the club.

"I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, and I will fully cooperate with the police to help them reach the truth. I look forward to returning to play as soon as possible.”

Antony, who has not been arrested or charged, has been in his homeland in recent weeks but flew into the UK from Sao Paulo on Tuesday. It is understood he has agreed to voluntarily speak to police about the allegations made by Gabriela and to surrender his phone.

In a statement earlier this month, United said: "As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”

Antony, who has won 16 caps for his country, was left out of the Brazil squad in the wake of the allegations earlier this month. He signed for United in an £85million transfer from Ajax in August last year and has since made 48 appearances and scored eight goals.
