Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has issued a message to the team’s fans after a disappointing loss to the Miami Dolphins.

The Broncos suffered a 70-20 loss to the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in the Week Three contest in the NFL. It was a defeat that saw the Broncos fall to 0-3 after the first three games of the 2023 regular season.

Payton is just three games into his first year as head coach of the Broncos, replacing Nathaniel Hackett who was in charge for the majority of 2022. Payton, who was most recently head coach of the New Orleans Saints, took up the role with Denver back in January.

However, the start of the year has resulted in three disappointing defeats for the Broncos. Next up is another game on the road away to the Chicago Bears, who like Denver have lost all of their opening three matches.

Following the loss to the Dolphins, Payton has issued a message to the team’s fans on how they are going to work to correct any issues. The Broncos head coach went on to outline what he thought went wrong in Florida and vowed to work hard to make sure the team becomes successful.

“First off to the fans, we’re going to work our tail off and get this ship straightened away,” Payton said on Monday, via . “That’s going to happen. There’s going to be a process involved in that.

“Certainly, there’s a lot of work ahead of us. The key is finding these guys, putting them in the right positions to be successful, and then that confidence that comes with winning. That’s the main thing.”

Payton will have a number of issues from the loss to the Dolphins that will need to be ironed out. The Broncos defense gave up 726 yards, as well as conceding three turnovers and 10 touchdowns.

The Dolphins broke an NFL record to become the first team to score 70 points and amass more than 700 yards in the same game. Mike McDaniel’s team was only three points adrift of breaking the record set by Washington in 1966 of the highest score in an NFL regular season game.

Quarterback Russell Wilson is now in his second season with the Broncos, after being traded from the Seattle Seahawks during the off-season in 2022. His start to the season has seen him amass 791 total passing yards in three games with six touchdown passes and two interceptions, one of which came in Miami.
