'Van life' influencer caught husband cheating with woman who travelled with them
A popular 'van life' influencer has revealed how she discovered her husband of nine years was cheating on her with a woman who lived in a bus and travelled around with them for months.
Married couple Will Watson and Kristin Batykefer were among the most well-known 'van life' influencers who travelled the US exploring the country while apparently living an idyllic lifestyle. But the couple disappeared from the internet in July 2022. Now a year on from the disappearance, Kristin, 32, has revealed what led to the darlings of the 'van life' world splitting up in an interview with fellow van influencer Kelsey, on her YouTube channel Kels And Jay.
Her and her now ex-husband Will, 34, had been travelling with another couple who lived in a bus. She explained: "We were together for three months and two-and-a-half of the months, my ex-partner and the wife of that bus had an affair. Then they had it for a year behind my back." The previously happy Will and Kristin, originally from Jacksonville, Florida, gave up their three-bedroom rental home for a life of adventure. In 2019 they sold "95 percent" of what they owned and bought a 1992 retired Air Force bus. They spent $30,000 and 18 months converting it into a mobile home before driving off into the sunset with their two-year-old daughter Roam.

Followers fell in love with the portrayal of dinners round the campfire and teaming up with other travellers. But it wasn't as happy as it first seemed. Kristin explained that there was a "nine-month period" where she had suspicions after finding texts on her husband's phone but didn't want to split up her family over them. She said: "There was no actual solid evidence and when you have a child and you're married and you don't have solid evidence it's really hard to be like 'I'm gonna leave' because of this."

Although she tried to save her marriage, in the end it was thinking about her daughter that made her realise she had to leave her husband. She explained: "Eventually you have to ask yourself, if my child was in a relationship like this would I be happy for her? Would I support it? Would I want her to stay in a relationship like this? And the answer at the end was just absolutely not."

Kristin has been open about what happened to her family (beachykefer/Instagram)Her divorce was finalised in February and she now splits custody of her daughter with Will. According to Kristin, Will is now dating his former mistress. Kristin has moved into a 'mommune' in Florida with friends and their children. Previously , Kristin explained exactly what a Mommune is and what makes it so great, in her opinion.
She said: "It's a play on words, it's mums in a commune, a community of mums. We're three moms living under one roof right now. It's a couple, Ben and Cleta, who are empty nesters and it's their house and then me and my best friend Tessa, her two babies who are four and one, and my daughter."

Kristin now lives in a 'mommune' (beachykefer/Instagram)While it might surprise some to learn that there's a man in the Mommune, Kristin says he is a great asset to the group and they call him their 'unicorn'. "He's a unicorn, he's proof that there are good men out there," she jokes. "He works hard, he helps his wife with anything she asks him and the kids love him, and after coming out of two that weren't the best, it's good for us to see him and his wife, they've been married for 27 years now and together for almost 30, so it's proof that it can happen."
