Mystery after woman found dead on beach as cops probe early hours tragedy

Detectives are probing the "unexpected" death of a woman who was tragically found on a beach.

Officers were called to Jaywick beach in Essex early on Tuesday morning after the shocking discovery. Essex Police has since sadly confirmed the woman, whose identity has not been released, tragically died.

The force was called to the scene at 7.20pm on Tuesday, with further emergency services arriving soon after. Crime scene investigators remained on the beach for most of the day as they carried out a probe into what happened.

A spokesman for the force said: "Alongside emergency services colleagues, we were called to concerns for the welfare of a woman on a beach in Jaywick shortly after 7.20am this morning, Tuesday 26 September. All services quickly arrived.

"Despite the best efforts of medics, sadly the woman had died. Her death is being treated as unexpected and the circumstances around it will be the subject of an investigation. There will continue to be an emergency services presence in the area throughout the morning and into the afternoon."
