Garrett Wilson makes feelings on offense clear after heated Zach Wilson exchange
Garrett Wilson is growing increasingly frustrated with the New York Jets offense.
The franchise lost their AFC East battle to the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Against a depleted Patriots lineup without three of its top five cornerbacks, the Jets managed a total of just 171 yards, 87 of those came on their lone touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.
Through the first three games of the season, the Jets offense is only averaging 14.0 points and their predictable play-calling has not helped matters. Their struggles are now having a visible impact on the players as Wilson, the team’s star receiver, was seen having an intense discussion with quarterback Zach Wilson and the team’s offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett on the sidelines.
“Yeah, just frustration that we not moving the ball,” Garrett Wilson told reporters post-game. “That’s what it was. Our defense was stringing together some stops and I feel like it was time to go — time to go, time to put some points on the board that’s all.” Wilson was quiet last night as he was kept out of the end zone for the first time this season.
The 23-year-old caught five passes for 48 yards on nine targets against the Patriots and registered just 12 receptions for 165 yards in three games. The 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year was feeling frustrated after not being able to make much of an impact in Sunday’s 15-10 loss to the Patriots.

“No, I’m frustrated with not winning,” Wilson said after the game. "Whatever reason that may be, we’re trying to figure it out. That’s my job. I feel like I’m a player on this team, and everyone knows that about me, I don’t play about [anything but] losing and winning.
“When it’s competition I’m about all that, and we haven’t met the challenge the last two weeks. That’s where the frustration comes from and that’s where the emotion comes from.”
Quarterback Wilson on the other hand, completed just 50% of his passes for 157 yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions.

He is currently on pace to have the worst three-year stretch by a quarterback in NFL history. He was booed loudly by the Jets fans as pressure ramps up on the second overall pick of the 2021 Draft. "Yeah, just frustrating -- frustration that we're not moving the ball," Wilson said after the game.
"That's what it was. Our defense was stringing together some stops and I felt like it was time to go, time to go, time to put some points on the board. So yeah, just trying to figure out how we can attack."
