Strictly Come Dancing star could leave as they 'struggle' to connect with pro
A BBC Strictly Come Dancing star may be set to exit the show due to a "struggle" to connect with her professional partner.
Renowned body language expert Darren Stanton analysed the cast of the popular dance competition ahead of the series premiere on BBC One and iPlayer. Stanton predicts that Nikita Kanda and Krishnan Guru-Murthy could find themselves in hot water after the first week.
He expressed concerns about Nikita's performance, stating: "Nikita I'm not seeing a great deal of the core character traits that traditionally line up with those who are successful in the competition."
He further commented on her potential struggle to connect with her professional dancer, saying to Betfair Slots: "It is early days but she doesn't look to have the willingness to commit to her training partner and hand over control. She might struggle in the early stages until she finds her feet but I don't think she will be a contender at this stage."
Krishnan has been described as looking 'uncomfortable' (PA)
Nikita is struggling to connect with her dance partner, says the expert (PA)Radio presenter Nikita is currently paired with BBC Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Marquez. Meanwhile, Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy is dancing Lauren Oakley. Krishnan seems to be struggling with his two left feet, according to Darren. "He doesn't look comfortable in his own skin on the dancefloor, he looks very self-conscious which could be a barrier when it comes to him letting himself go fully," Darren observed.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tour
He added: "His mindset and his personality is of someone who likes to be in control so it'll be interesting to see if he can get past that and throw himself into the competition." Darren also dropped some intriguing insights about Bobby Brazier, labelling him as a "wildcard". And as for Les Dennis, the former ITV Family Fortunes star, Darren believes he might just "surprise people".
"I'm not sure how far he will get but I think he will surprise people and work hard," the body language expert explained.
EastEnders star Bobby was the favourite to win, however after the first live shows there is another contestant coming out on top. Fellow EastEnders alumni Nigel Harman topped the judges' leaderboard, receiving a score of eight across the board for his Paso Doble with Katya Jones. Head judge Shirley Ballas proclaimed Nigel to be "the one to beat" while Craig Revel Horwood branded his routine "the dance of the night". Motsi Mabuse added: "This at the end of the night was spectacular, amazing."
Strictly fans rooted for Nigel to go all the way to the final after closing the show with his astounding routine. One viewer tweeted: "Just caught [Nigel Harman] and [Katya Jones] Paso on my break at work. That was fantastic I’m rooting for you guys to win. Been a huge fan of Nigel’s since I was 17 and first saw him in Eastenders. #strictly."
"Nigel and Katya. WOW!! That Paso Doble IS the BEST Dance and BEST Paso Doble EVER on #StrictlyComeDancing. Nigel's dance ability and talent is sensational. Katya, outstanding choreography. Nigel and Katya TO WIN," another wrote. A third said: "OK, I already have my @bbcstrictly favourite. Nigel & Katya to win after that Paso Doble! #SmellsLikeTeenSpirit #Strictly."
