Golfing legend Tiger Woods has revealed the best shot he made in his career shortly after being spotted preparing to make a comeback after a five-month absence.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner is stepping up preparations for a return to the greens, after withdrawing from the Masters at Augusta National back in April with an injury, and has since been asked to recall the greatest shot he has ever hit. The question is a tough one for the 47-year-old who has enjoyed a stellar career spanning over 27 years. But thankfully for golfing fans the Californian had a definitive answer.

Rolling back the years, Woods recalled a strike in the final round of the 2002 US PGA. The 15-time Major champion revealed that a tricky shot on the 18th hole at Hazeltine National Golf Club still brings back fond memories. "Probably the 2002 PGA, on the 18th hole," Woods admitted speaking to TaylorMade Golf. "From the fairway bunker, I hit a 3-iron out of there.

"Hard left to right wind, and my heels were up against the lip of the bunker. I've never felt contact that solid in my life."

It's no surprise to see Woods reveal this hit as his greatest ever. The shot saw his vision blocked by a group of trees ahead of him with a lofted chip needed to make it onto the green.

The shot cleared the trees to land perfectly on the green just several feet from the hole. In true fashion Woods calmly went on to putt the ball home for an impressive birdie. Sadly the shot wasn't enough to see Woods claim the win in Chaska, Minnesota. That accolade instead went to Rich Beem - the only major win of his career.

Woods' comments come after was forced to withdraw from the third round of the Masters at Augusta National back in April with an injury in his foot. But it appears that the golfing legend could make his way back to the sport for just the third time this year.

Woods has recently been captured on a range at Liberty National in New Jersey for the first time in almost six months. The golfer was joined by fellow PGA Tour stars Will Zalatoris and Rickie Fowler.

The extent of his injury is still unclear but his return to practice bodes well for fans hoping to capture Woods back in action in the near future.
