Mother Pukka influencer Anna Whitehouse and husband to divorce after 17 years
Journalist Anna Whitehouse has announced her marriage split from her husband after 17 years – but the writer says she doesn't want 'pity' after breaking the news on social media.
The journalist turned social media influencer under the name Mother Pukka and author, 42, tied the knot with her husband Matt Farquharson almost two decades ago, but has now confirmed that they are now 'kindly untangling' from one another.
Taking to Instagram to share the news, mum-of-two Anna, who shares two children with Matt, wrote: "This isn't a sad post or one for pity, really. You've seen us grow together here - and I don't want our story reimagined or miscommunicated elsewhere. Matt and I are getting divorced.
"It would be natural to say 'sadly getting divorced' but that's not really the truth. That's, perhaps how society conditions us to see relationships that simply don't work out for very human reasons.
Anna shared a sweet text exchange between her and Matt"He's the most astonishing man I've met. Our 'till death do us part' just looks a little different. He will always be the father of our two little girls. He will always be the man who held me through the darkest postnatal period. He will always be my partner. Even if apart physically."

Anna went on: "I'm so grateful for the last 17 years we've had together. It's not the happily ever after told in the fairy tales but there is happiness in there. We spent our last night together drinking cheap vodka and laughing at banal arguments over soft furnishings. With a 6am re-run of our first wedding dance.
"Till death do us part, indeed. I love you Matt Farquharson. Here's to our next chapter. And here's to your happy ending - however it looks."
Anna went on to share a screenshot snap of a conversation between herself and Matt where he refers to their relationship and bond as 'unshakeable'.
"Unshakable. This feels bigger than our wedding. The strength it's taken to fight for happiness and lightness. That's the real marriage. However hard and uncomfortable. I like me more in this context. I like us more."
The couple share two children togetherIn response to Matt's texts, Anna replied: "Me too. I think we might be remarkable." Anna also revealed that she and Matt will continue working together on editorial commissions.
Anna, who has over 400,000 followers on Instagram, received floods of kind messages and comments from her fanbase who praised her for her honesty and positive spin on her marriage ending.
"What a beautiful way of putting it. I am still sorry, because it is still a grief, as all endings are, even if it means the start of a great new beginning," one commented.
"Such beautiful words my darling Anna. Sending you both all my love and prayers for your new paths," another echoed.
"Awwww that text exchange says it all. A great team doesn't always have to/shouldn't have to remain married. Best of luck to you both," someone else shared.
While another one of Anna's followers wrote: "Oh you beautiful souls. Sending you both so much strength, love, and joyous hope for the future."
