Taylor Swift offers Sophie Turner 'shred of normalcy' amid custody battle
Sophie Turner has been enjoying her time with her unlikely new best pal, Taylor Swift.
Taylor and Sophie had met publicly for the first time earlier this week, shocking the internet who will recall Taylor having dated Sophie's now-estranged husband Joe Jonas back in 2008. They were seen together for a second time on Thursday as they met one another outside the luxury Hotel Barriere Fouquet in New York City.
Sophie, whose divorce was announced earlier this month, is in the midst of suing Joe and is asking the court to order their children back to their home in England.
According to the court documents, the "wrongful retention" of the children began Sept. 20, 2023. Sophie is requesting the "immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained". She insists that the now separated family had previously intended to make England their 'forever home' prior to the divorce.

During the initial reports of the breakup, insiders told TMZ that Joe had been taking care of the kids "pretty much all of the time". Sophie's documents now corroborate that, but also insist that she wants that to end.

As things get messy between Sophie and Joe, she's found a shred of "normalcy" in her dinner dates with Taylor, sources claim, and the evenings out have "cheered Sophie up" during this time.
"They were normal. Completely normal. Everyone was all excited, but they were normal," the insider told People. "Taylor is a great friend — Sophie can talk to her about anything. It cheered Sophie up to spend time with Taylor.”
Taylor and Sophie's outing comes after 34-year-old Joe filed for divorce from wife Sophie, claiming their marriage is "irretrievably broken". The former couple started dating in 2016 and share two children together.

“Statement from the two of us: After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,'” they both shared on Instagram. “There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
