Larian Studios may have delayed Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 3 – just by one day, don't worry – but to make up for it, the developer confirmed a Magic Mirror is on the way in the update.

Baldur's Gate 3 has had six hotfixes and two major patches since it launched last month on PC (and this month on PS5) with Patch 1 and Patch 2 being pretty hefty. The upcoming Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 3 is no different, and its size may have been a contributing factor to the delay announced earlier today. The update has since been pushed back to tomorrow, Friday, September 21, leaving players to battle the performance issues that have plagued Act 3 since launch for a little longer.

But all things considered, a one-day delay isn't too much of an inconvenience. Regardless, Larian Studios seems to have taken pity on us, and confirmed a new feature that'll be coming our way in Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 3. The developer took to Twitter to announce the addition of a Magic Mirror which will let you change the appearance of your character. This only applies to custom characters, and not the pre-existing origin characters, as you might expect.

You'll be able to change your voice, and pronouns as well, but there are some limitations – namely your character's race and body type, which can't be changed. You'll be able to access the mirror at your camp.

A long hard look

Being able to change your appearance in Baldur's Gate 3 feels like something that should have been available at launch, but considering the game hasn't even released on Xbox yet, we're still within the (rather lengthy) release window I suppose. Mirrors are commonplace in RPGs these days, letting you change your facial hair a la The Witcher 3, or have a more radical makeover, like in Cyberpunk 2077. The Magic Mirror was actually teased by Larian Studios' director of publishing, Michael Douse, earlier this week, which is included in our early Baldur's Gate 3 patch notes roundup.

The update is also set to improve performance issues – presumably focussing on those that Act 3 is riddled with. Crossplay has also been confirmed, meaning that PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S owners will be able to play with one another. Which is the only way to play co-op on Xbox Series S given that this version of the game won't support split-screen multiplayer.

The Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 3 release time hasn't been confirmed just yet but barring any further delays, you'll be able to have it installed and ready for your weekend play session.
