Emmerdale's Gail and Ryan struggle as her secret is exposed after a cryptic phone call this week – with viewers finally discovering what she is hiding.

It's been teased for a while that newcomer Gail, the partner of Ryan, is up to something. From snapping to having weird phone conversations with mystery people, Gail is keeping something from those in the village and this week we find out what it is. Gail arrived in the village earlier this year and reunited with ex Ryan, while she first debuted back in 2019.

Later this week, Gail goes for a romantic meal with Ryan, but she soon has to make her excuses to head out and make a phone call. Later, viewers will see her meeting a woman called Sophie at an allotment. The woman has some bad news for Gail about someone called Oscar, but who is Oscar and what connection does she have to them?

Now, new spoilers for next week reveal the fallout to the truth being revealed. It seems Ryan and Gail will struggle with whatever happens, as spoiler pictures show them sat apart and unable to look each other. Both of them appear shocked if not upset, with it clear they have things to sort out.

It comes amid speculation from viewers about the big secret, from possible links to other villagers or incidents from the past. In the next episode, airing on Wednesday night, Gail will be seen once again taking a cryptic phone call leaving Ryan baffled. The scenes that follow will lead to the arrival of the mystery Sophie who has news about Oscar.

Theories included: "Is Gail maybe pregnant", and another which read: "I don't trust Gail? She seems to have developed a dark side? What is she hiding?". Viewers have also speculated she could secretly be Jean Tate, the daughter of former characters Zoe Tate and Scott Windsor.
