Louise Redknapp's happiness after vowing to protect kids following Jamie split

Louise Redknapp looks like she's found happiness again after vowing to 'protect her kids' when she split up with ex-husband Jamie.

The Eternal star, 48, who was spotted in London with new man Drew Michael yesterday, divorced the former footballer, with whom she shares two sons, in 2017. Following their split, which was said to have left Jamie, who has since remarried, 'blindsided', Louise vowed not to move on with another partner for the sake of the couple's sons Charley, now 19, and Beau, 14.

Opening up about her relationship status at the time, the Strictly Come Dancing star said she held off dating to focus on being "the one staple" for her children. Admitting she 'wanted kids so much she put everything on hold for them', Louise said: "I've felt this as a mum and, to say this in the most sort of respectful way, my boys' lives changed dramatically and then it changed again when obviously Jamie got married and had a family." Explaining why she hadn't dated since he divorce, she continued: "Their life changed and I felt like I needed to be their one staple. That's just something I think a lot of mums would feel."

While telling HELLO! she wasn't "trawling through dating" sites in 2021, Louise conceded she wasn't "averse" to meeting somebody, saying her boys will be "absolutely fine if I'm dating or if I'm going out with anyone, they will be my biggest supporters as long as I'm happy. Like they're like, 'Yeah mum, you should.'''

Louise and Jamie split in 2017 after 19 years of marriage following the Stay singer's stint on Strictly. For years the showbiz couple appeared to have one of the most solid marriages in show business and left fans shocked when they announced they had called it a day.

However, behind the scenes, it appeared trouble had been brewing for some time, as Louise revealed in her new autobiography, You've Got This, her 2016 stint on Strictly reignited her passion for performing. Admitting the BBC show made her realise she couldn't go back to being a 'Stepford Wife', she wrote: "For a long time, I ticked all the boxes of being the 'picture-perfect' wife. The truth? For a lot of that time, I actually felt lonely, anxious and unimportant."

Louise decided to call time on the couple's marriage shortly after Strictly, reportedly leaving Jamie and his father, former England manager, Harry Redknapp, in shock. The I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! winner said at the time: "It was difficult when Jamie and Louise got divorced because both sets of our parents were married until they died, so we weren't used to that. We tried to never interfere, though, and have all managed to stay friends."

Jamie went on to marry Swedish model Freida Anderssson, with whom he shares, son, Rapahel, two. Following the news of the couple's sudden nuptials at Chelsea Registry Office in 2021, Louise admitted she "ran" from her 21 year marriage to her ex-husband, adding she wished she'd "tried harder" to save it. Speaking candidly about her divorce, she said: "I should have paused for a minute and thought about other people and had just a bit more time to work out why I felt I couldn’t do it any more. All I know is, I wish I’d tried [to save the marriage]."

Earlier this year, it was claimed the Naked singer was now "ready for a new man" after Jamie gushed about his "perfect" marriage with Frida. A source told Heat magazine: "She [Louise] would love to meet someone as she goes an embarks on a new tour. She knows she's been judged in the past for having a life outside of motherhood and slammed for going out, but she just blocks all the negativity out. Louise knows that doing what she loves will make the boys happy too because they will see how much it means to her."

Six years following her shock split with the Sky Sports pundit, it appears the devoted mum-of-two is finally ready for a new relationship. Louise delighted her fans when she was snapped with her beau, Drew, in London's Soho on Monday night. The couple stepped out in the capital and were seen leaving celeb spot The Groucho Club after attending comedian Jimmy Carr’s 51st birthday celebrations.

Sporting a black pencil skirt, which she teamed with matching patent boots and a puffer jacket, Louise looked stunning, walking behind Drew as they left the exclusive members only club. Not much his known about the singer's companion, but judging by the smile on Drew's face, he looked delighted to be stepping out with Charley and Beau's proud parent.
