Neighbours of a troublesome Airbnb have complained of late night parties, fights and a ruined wedding since it opened for business.

The massive modern villa sleeps 16 and boasts luxurious facilities including a private pool and hot tub and has attracted large groups of people looking to celebrate in style. However, some locals claim they are disturbed night and day in the warmer months by live musicians, strippers, and loud guests.

However, neighbours near the home in Sheepfoot Lane, Manchester, insist the property is 'not appropriate' for a residential area. Some say the noise from the mansion keeps people awake at night, while another neighbour said it has affected her daughter's GCSE revision. The home cost just shy of £1,200 a night.

One person told Manchester Evening News : “I can't explain to you what the noise is like. "You can't go in your garden. We can't enjoy our homes during summer. We don't go to bed, there's no point. We just wait until the noise is over.

"We live in a residential area. We're not in the middle of nowhere. It's totally unacceptable and so rude."

Another neighbour, who asked not to be named, said her daughter had struggled to revise for her GCSEs due to the noise. "She had to go and sleep in the front room to get away from it. There have been plenty of times we've heard (guests) using nitrous oxide and seen the cannisters.

“They have no respect for their neighbours. Do they really think that's appropriate for a residential area?"

She claimed that despite meetings between the owners, neighbours, Bury Council, and Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the 'horrific' noise has continued. The issues have caused ugly scenes as the home’s owners Azmat and Farzana Ali have claimed they have been victimised. They say in recent weeks their son's wedding was targeted by hooded intruders who vandalised the property, upset the bride, and subjected them to racist abuse.

The couple said in a statement: “When purchasing the property these bookings came on to our plate, we decided to continue renting the property out as my son was not going to use it for a few years. We had no experience on how to manage a property or on how to control noise levels, but now after a good few months we know the best way to manage the property

"Some individuals broke into our property wearing hoodies, during the wedding function. They damaged the gate, vandalised our cars, trespassed onto our property, they manage to make their way up to the living room, cause a huge scene which made the bride very upset, and made racist comments."

Airbnb has suspended the property's listing amid the allegations from neighbours, the owners now say they have listed the property with an agent to try and get a let of six to 12 months until their son is ready to move in.

Inspector Gareth Edwards, of GMP, said the force had 'worked closely with local partners' to address complaints, adding: "We have spoken to those involved in the letting of the property, who have made a variety of changes, restricting those who are able to let the property from agents, removing access to areas of the property reducing noise, and playing a much greater role in the direct management of noise and other nuisances from occupants when let.

"We will continue to investigate all reports that come into us and we will act on reports of anti-social and nuisance behaviour where we can."

A spokesperson for AirBnb said: “Parties are banned on Airbnb, and the listing has been suspended. We want to be a good partner to local communities, which is why we have removed or suspended 1,000 listings in the UK to help stop unwanted behaviour as well as launched technology to identify high risk reservations and prevent them from taking place. Local residents can also use our Neighbourhood Support Line to report urgent concerns, and we investigate all reports received.”
