Jadon Sancho was spotted watching Manchester United’s Under-18s in action ahead of the Red Devils’ humiliating defeat against Brighton.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger has been involved in a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. The manager accused Sancho of not matching the standards expected of him, and consequently left him out of the side against Arsenal before the international break.

The Red Devils’ winger disputed those claims with a statement on social media. Things were expected to be smoothed over with talks being held between Sancho and Ten Hag but the player reportedly refused to apologise. He is now being forced to train away from the first team at Old Trafford and was once again left out of the side against Brighton.

Sancho was still fully invested in goings on with United though. He was spotted watching the Red Devils’ next generation as the U18s took on Nottingham Forest at Carrington on Saturday.

Sancho was hunched over the hoardings as Jack Kingdon and Victor Musa both scored to secure a 2-1 victory. Things did not go quite as well for the senior side who were humiliated by Brighton at Old Trafford.

Former United star Danny Welbeck gave the Seagulls a first-half lead, with Rasmus Hojlund then controversially seeing an equaliser ruled out. Further strikes from Pascal Gross and Joao Pedro appeared to have rubber-stamped victory for Brighton. Hannibal Mejbri gave the Red Devils fleeting hope late on but that was not enough to stage a comeback.

Ten Hag now has a tough task on his hands in order to get the Red Devils back on track. They kick-off their Champions League campaign with a trip to the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Sancho, now 23, endured a tricky time of things against the reigning German giants during his time with their fierce rivals Dortmund. He made seven career appearances against Bayern, winning just twice and scoring a solitary goal.

The decision now lies with Red Devils’ boss Ten Hag over whether to welcome Sancho back into the fold. Asked ahead of the clash with Brighton, the former Ajax boss was tight-lipped over when he could return.

“I don’t know,” he replied. “I am sitting here. Tomorrow [Saturday] we have a big game, we are going into a new block of games, many games in a condensed programme. I will focus on that.”

Following their clash with Bayern, United are next back in action next weekend as they travel to Turf Moor for a showdown with newly-promoted Burnley.
