Emmerdale fans spot blunder in David Metcalfe's 'final' storyline ahead of exit
Emmerdale fans spotted a blunder tonight in what could be David Metcalfe's final storyline.
Actor Matthew Wolfenden confirmed he would departing the programme soon for new opportunities. He has had some huge storylines during his time on the soap, and it looks like there will be one more big one in store before he departs the Dales for good after nearly two decades on the show - but fans couldn't help but notice an apparent error in the storyline.
Tonight on the soap, David's feelings for Victoria Sugden seem to blossom again as she headed out on a date with an old crush of hers. When Victoria said she was thrilled he was there and that she wished she had been with him instead, it was clear his feelings are still there, but fans couldn't help but notice a blunder in the storyline, which could be David's last.

Matthew did an interview with This Morning last week, where he discussed his soap exit.

"That made me really emotional! I am so nervous about leaving, nearly 20 years, almost two decades. It feels like the right time, the door has been left open - they're not killing me off, I've been promised. Who knows, I might be back [in the future]. Yeah, but we will see," he said during the chat last week after being shown a video of his soap best bits.
Teasing his character's exit storyline, Matthew said: "There is a resolution of sorts ... I can't give too much away. Victoria is the reason why he leaves the village... put it that way! He leaves because of Victoria in a way, I can't give too much away!"
His co-stars are also devastated to see him leave the show. Joe-Warren Plant - who plays Jacob - will no doubt be part of the storyline as he plays David's son, and he is devastated to see him go.
"I'm gutted! I’ve learnt everything from him. I had no previous acting experience, so everything came directly from Matthew. It’s nice to see the change in conversations – everything’s a bit more grown-up and they talk more on a mature level. They’ve always got on, David’s a great father, but Jacob’s enjoying spending more time with David as a single dad," he said.
