Passenger gobsmacked as a mum steals her plane seat and refuses to move
When you're boarding a plane and you know you've pre-booked a window seat, you can be safe in the knowledge that you're going to be reasonably comfortable - and if your seatmate is a bit irritating, at least you've got a great view for the duration of the journey.
But one plane passenger was left rather disgruntled when they were searching for their seat, and "there was a woman" sitting there "with a child". When they pointed out that the woman was sitting in their seat, the woman's reaction was cold, and she pointed at her old seat, saying the passenger could sit there instead. Afraid of "causing more of a scene", the passenger sat in an alternative seat - but after pondering the situation, they wish they'd "demanded" their seat back.
They took to Reddit's 'Entitled Parents' forum to write: "I was boarding a flight from NYC to Toronto. I had checked into the flight 24 hours in advance, as soon as it opened because I needed a window seat. When I got to my seat, there was a woman seated in my seat, with a child, probably aged six or seven. I told her that the seat she was in was mine (I said it very politely since it could have been an honest mistake.) She pointed at a seat a couple of rows away and told me that I could sit in her original seat, which was NOT a window seat.
"I told her I wanted a window seat which is what I originally selected. She just looked at me, then looked at her kid, then at me, without moving. I was about to ask her again for my chair back, but the man behind me overheard our conversation and offered me his window seat. I didn't want to cause more of a scene, so I accepted it and he sat in the woman's original seat."
The passenger was left with many questions, and they were wondering why if it was "so important for her to sit behind her child, why did she not check in when it opened?" They even wondered why they didn't "pre-pay for selected seats just to make sure", concluding the post by admitting they were fuming that "she just assumed" they would switch "A part of me wishes I demanded my seat back", they raged.

In the comments, people tried to encourage them not to let the same thing happen again. One wrote: "Should've talked to a flight attendant. We can't let these entitled brats win." Someone responded: "Yes, this is great advice. These entitled people need to realise they also can book the seats they want, AND PAY MORE. No more just taking other people's seats because 'they have kids'."
"The way the original poster handled it the woman still 'got her way'. People like that will continue doing this s**t if there are no consequences for them, just book the seats beforehand, it's not that hard", another fumed.
