Woman left 'confused and frightened' after being 'spiked' on flight
A woman said she was left "confused" and "frightened" after some boys took her water bottle on a plane and allegedly spiked it.
The anonymous passenger, whose flight took off from Glasgow Airport, shared her story on a social media community group to warn other people, especially girls who travel by plane, to watch their drinks at all times. The woman claimed some "clever lads" who were sitting behind her stole her bottle of water from under her feet, pouring "some strong alcohol" and "heck knows what else" in it.
She said she was left "confused for a while and frightened" while the boys "laughed" behind her back and were "proud" of themselves. The alleged victim said she was previously taken advantage of by a man, which left a mark on her mental health.
Describing the incident on the Facebook page No1seems2care, the passenger wrote: "Just wanted to warn other people and especially girls who travel by plane to watch your drinks at all times! Today on a flight from Glasgow clever lads who sat in a plane behind me, stole my bottle of water from under my feet and poured some strong alcohol into it and heck knows what else.
"I had been confused for a while and frightened. They had been so proud of themselves and laughed behind my back to their girlfriends how they pranked me that it was hard to not notice who done it. Unfortunately I had been already a victim when a man took advantage of my vulnerability and it left a mark on my mental health.

"It's really difficult to feel targeted again especially by total strangers as it brings back all nightmare and intrusive thoughts. It honestly broke me at the very start of my holidays and I wonder why again someone tried took an advantage of me and I am blaming myself that's my fault for being careless and that’s something in my appearance just makes me look a weak and easy target."
According to the Facebook community group, the incident was not reported to the police. It is not clear which airline the woman was travelling with. Spiking someone's drink means adding drugs or alcohol to it without the other person knowing. Whether it is done as a prank or with the intention of robbing or assaulting the victim, it is a crime.
A person whose drink was spiked can feel the effects in just minutes - and memory loss is one of the most common side effects. This means that often victims have little memory of the incident, or struggle to remember it completely.
The police advise people to never leave drinks unattended and not to drink them if they have not seen them being prepared in front of them. If you are at a venue and think your drink has been spiked, you should alert a member of staff or security, stay with your friends, and try to be aware of your surroundings, never leave with someone you do not know and call an ambulance if your symptoms get worse.
