Strictly's Amy Dowden debuts new look as she prepares for cancer treatment

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden is optimistic and smiling while preparing for her next round of chemotherapy - and has shown off a new style as she continues to battle cancer.

The 33-year-old professional dancer revealed back in May that she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer and has been keeping fans updated on her health battle in the months since. Despite her heartbreaking news, the Strictly star has been wowing fans with her bravery as she tackles her condition with an incredibly bright outlook.

On Wednesday, Amy explained that she had undergone some new blood tests and was preparing for her latest round of chemo. Her update came after she previously revealed she had suffered blood clots following her second round of treatment.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Amy posed with a positive smile and flashed a thumbs up to her camera as she gave her fans and social media followers her latest update. She wrote alongside the boomerang clip: "Bloods are good and a great appointment with oncologist! Chemo tomorrow! Thanks for all checking in, and the best wishes."

The TV star also showed off her style make-over as she sported a stylish scarf on her head which was tucked over her hair. While describing her health battles, Amy has explained how she has coped with her hair falling out as a consequence of her treatment.

On Monday, she confessed she had shed some tears due to her hair falling out during another Instagram Story update. She explained at the time: "I think I cry less now. To begin with, it was every day, but now I have meltdowns when I wash my hair once a week. For the last two weeks now, I haven't brushed my hair, and that has definitely helped."

The dance expert went on to add: "Since I came out of hospital with the blood clots, I stopped brushing it myself because I was just getting distraught seeing how much was falling out." Amy also said that her husband, Ben Jones, has been brushing her hair in order to shield her from seeing how much comes out.

She told her followers: "I obviously am aware of it, but I'm not physically seeing or holding the hair that I'm losing, and that for me is helping me big time." While Amy’s condition has meant she has unfortunately been forced to pull out of starring on the 2023 season of Strictly, she has told fans she hopes to feature during the course of the imminent 21st series.
