King Charles has given royal fans a hint at what he watches when he relaxes in front of the TV after making a well-timed joke about It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia with Rob McElhenney.

The monarch was joined by his wife Queen Camilla as they stopped by for a tour of Wrexham AFC's stadium, The Racecourse Ground. During their visit, they met with club owners and Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

In season two of their popular Disney+ series Welcome To Wrexham, which has just dropped the first episode, Ryan and Rob revealed they took etiquette lessons before meeting the King to make sure everything went smoothly. Their colleague Humphrey Ker has now revealed what happened during their meeting.

In Welcome To Wrexham's second season, King Charles is shook hands with Rob as the actor explained that he now lives in Los Angeles, but is originally from Philadelphia. The King replied: "I hear it's always sunny there," referencing the hugely popular sitcom which Rob starred in and co-created, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Executive director of Wrexham football club Humphrey has revealed the joke was completely deliberate. "He [King Charles] knew full well," he explained.

"He was very pleased with his joke and he said that he's got people to tell him, keep him abreast of what’s going on and set him up for these sorts of things. They had a great time," Humphrey told the Metro.

He also said Charles and Camilla's visit was "exciting" for all of the staff at Wrexham AFC. He said it was a chance to show workers "a bit of recognition" for all of the hard work they have put into the club.

After King Charles' visit, Deadpool star Ryan took to Instagram to share a picture of the monarch. In the caption, he wrote: "Welcome to Wrexham Season 2: Charles in Charge." The official account for the Royal Family commented: "Thank you for welcoming us to @wrexham_afc!"

Welcome To Wrexham returned to our screens on September 12 in America and September 13 in the UK. From there, the second episode will be released on September 19, before the remaining 14 episodes in the series are released on a weekly basis.
