An Air France flight has been forced to land at Heathrow airport after fumes were reportedly seen in the cockpit.

The incident, which saw the flight declare an emergency before landing, was earlier described as an 'ongoing situation'.

Flight number AF1817 departed Dublin just after 6pm and was due to land into Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris at around 8.15pm local time, before diverting to the UK.

Several reputable air tracking sources said the fumes had been witnessed in the cockpit, according to Dublin Live. Tracking data showed the plane landed at Heathrow around 7pm.
