Meghan Markle looked "timid" as she was thrown in at the deep end during an impromptu sing-along at the Invictus Games, according to a body language expert.

The Duchess of Sussex was joined by her husband Prince Harry as they sat down to watch the swimming finals in Dusseldorf. The couple tried to join in with the crowd as they waved their hands from side to side while singing along to Neil Diamond's hit song Sweet Caroline.

Meghan smiled as she bopped along to the song in her seat, while Harry got into the spirit of things and pointed his fingers in the air. Body language expert Judi James has said Meghan "braved it out" during the sing-along.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said: "It's probably best if anyone not totally immersed in the world of sport, karaoke and hen nights doesn't sit with a big, boisterous sporting crowd when Sweet Caroline is played because it always turns into a huge, loud, emotional moment. Meghan braves it out here though, showing she's keen to look like a good sport even though she's not quite got the body language right."

Unlike his wife, Judi said Harry seemed to be an "expert" in the popular karaoke song. "Harry is clearly a Sweet Caroline expert, pointing both his index fingers upright in a gesture used by us all to work our way up to the loudest, highest explosion of notes," she said. "Meghan’s open mouth and her polite smile shows she’s singing along here, although those timidly clenched hands suggest she’s not quite nailed the spirit of the song yet."

Meghan and Harry have been enjoying the Invictus Games events throughout the day, after the Duchess of Sussex joined her husband in Germany last night. Watching a wheelchair basketball game earlier today, Meghan hugged a fan before she and Harry were seen dancing along to the music ahead of Australia taking on Ukraine at a wheelchair basketball game.

Meghan arrived in Dusseldorf yesterday after flying in from Los Angeles. She reunited with Harry as the pair made an appearance at an event hosted by veterans organisation the Fisher House Foundation at the Invictus Games.

At the event, Meghan explained why she had had to delay her arrival to the sporting event. She said: "I just had to spend a little more time getting our little ones settled at home, putting milkshakes for their school drop-off and then I just landed a couple hours ago and I am thrilled that the first event that I can do for Invictus is here with all of you, it is amazing and I hear the week so far has gotten off to a good start is that right?"

The Duchess of Sussex added how it was very "special" to her to have arrived in Germany to be with them all. She added: "I'm really, really proud to be part of this Invictus family with all of you. I'm grateful for all of you that are here."
