Las Vegas Raiders superstar Davante Adams looks to have built up a strong rapport with new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, making it clear that they're on good terms.

Garoppolo joined the Raiders this past off-season after signing a three-year deal worth $65 million (£52 million) as an unrestricted free agent - despite the likes of Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson being available.

He replaced Derek Carr, who left to join the New Orleans Saints, and Garoppolo made the perfect start to his NFL career with a win over division rivals, the Denver Broncos.

Adams only managed 66 yards on the day, with Garoppolo missing him on one throw which would have been a touchdown. However, the wide receiver has already made it clear that they're still on the same page.

Adams told ESPN: "That, to me, that's like you arguing with your girl and she says, 'I'm sorry.' All right, let's watch a movie now. We good. Don't need to act pissed off for the rest of the night.

"So it makes it real easy to grow with somebody and continue to go and try to win when you got somebody like that."

Speaking after the game, Adams sent somewhat of a shot at his former quarterback Carr, insinuating that Garoppolo had accomplished what was not capable of last season.

"This type of game was the difference in our season last year, just finishing," Adams told ESPN. "They say you're trash when you don't, we finish these and then they talk a lot different about you, regardless of what it took to get there, if it was ugly or not."

The Raiders claimed a 17-16 win over the Broncos on Sunday fuelled by a late fourth-quarter comeback — spearheaded by Garoppolo. He completed 20-of-26 passes in the game with two touchdowns and 200 total passing yards.

Garoppolo’s rival quarterback, Russell Wilson, enjoyed a similar game for the Broncos. Wilson went 27-of-24 for 177 total passing yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. The win now leaves the Raiders atop of the AFC West with the Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs all losing in the first week.

Garoppolo is in his 10th season in the NFL after spending six years with the San Francisco 49ers after three with the New England Patriots.
