When it comes to cleaning an oven, most people turn to chemical sprays to dissolve the grime away. But one cleaning guru claims there's an easier and more 'natural' way to make your oven sparkle without spending hours scrubbing at it.

Taking to TikTok, the mum-of-two, known as washy_wash online, has shared her go-to technique to keeping her oven clean - and it only takes 20 minutes. In her video, she puts two chopped lemons into an oven-safe bowl before adding about 500ml of water on top to completely cover them.

She then slides this into the middle tray and 'cooks' it on 200C for 20 minutes. After waiting for the lemon water to cool slightly, she wipes it all over her oven with a cloth, dissolving the dirt away in seconds. Commenting on her tip, one user said: "Oww, this is good I never tried the lemon thing."

Another user added: "I really liked the lemon way to clean the oven. I will definitely try it. Thank you." A third user said: "I didn't know that lemon and water can clean an oven. But thanks my oven is dirty." A bag of lemons costs just 55p at Tesco, with prices varying at other retailers.

It comes after TikTok user @Malsabena shared how to get streak-free mirrors when washing them down. All you need to get the job done is a bottle of shampoo, as she squirts some onto a damp cloth before scrubbing the mirror to cover it in soapsuds.

She then runs a squeegee from the top of the mirror to the bottom, leaving it spotless and gleaming without a streak in sight. The same cloth is then used to achieve similar results on the towel rack, as she adds: "Turn the heater on for amazing smell."

One viewer commented to ask: "Does this leave any like sticky leftovers? Really wanna try it," and she responded to say: "No it's super shiny!! I use it on all my reflective/mirror/glass surfaces after I've disinfected them all." Another replied: "Do you use this on windows too?" and she added: "Yeah but disinfect first because of dust."

Other people commented to say washing up liquid achieves the same results, as well as suggestions to use Zoflora. One advised: "Newspaper and white vinegar, or just Windolene if you don't like the smell of white vinegar. Newspaper works either way." And another added: "Bit of window spray and get a pillow case - works like magic."
