Paul McCartney, 81, shows off white hair and thick beard after ditching dye
Paul McCartney appeared to have ditched the hair dye after being spotted in London this week with white hair.
Looking closer to his 81 years of age, The Beatles rocker definitely has good hair genes as there is no sign of a receding hairline despite him being an octogenarian. But instead of dying his locks brown - as he was rumoured to have done for 30 years - they are now more of a grey/white.
Although Paul was dressed smartly in a dark suit with a white shirt underneath, he looked like he might be in a hurry to get somewhere as he hadn't shaved. Or could his white stubble be an attempt to regrow the famous beard he rocked in his glory days?
The Hey Jude singer sported a thick beard between 1969 and 1971. Such is the love for it, there are even dedicated blog posts telling his legions of fans how to create the look themselves.
It even has its own Instagram account @paulmccartneysbeard which aims to document the rock 'n' roll star's style from that era, before The Beatles split in 1974. The bio reads: "Dedicated to the finest beard in rock n roll history. Pictures from 1969-1971."

The Beatles star is now in his 80s (MJ-Pictures.com)Whatever his motives for his new look, Paul will be pleased he is no longer being criticised for continuing to reach for the hair dye. Back when he was married to Heather Mills, the star is said to have liked to save money by dying it himself.
With a dye job costing him around £120 every time he visited a salon, he reportedly began doing it himself with a home dye kit from the chemist, but Heather was worried as “people were making fun of the colour".
He began visiting a hair stylist in New York on then-wife Heather's recommendation, but it was claimed the salon later disassociated itself with the Fab Four legend as people kept asking them for the secret formula to his hair colour - when he had gone elsewhere.
The stylist told the New York Daily News at the time: “The colour is a mess. People ask us, ‘Is that your work?’”

The 63-year-old met Paul in 2007 and they tied the knot in a romantic ceremony at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall in October 2011, so are about to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary.
Paul's fashion designer daughter Stella designed the outfits for the bride and groom, sister Mary took photographs and his youngest Beatrice was a flower girl. After making it official, the couple reportedly celebrated with friends and family at Paul's home - with a vegetarian feast and two wedding cakes, including a vegan one.
The star also made sure to toast his late friend and Beatles bandmate, John Lennon, on what would have been his 71st birthday at the time.
