Bad news EE customers: your mobile roaming charges have just gone up.

The UK mobile network has announced that its Roam Further plan is shooting up to £25 per month—from just £10 earlier this year.

The add-on allows subscribers to use mobile data, send texts and make calls outside of the EU in countries such as USA, Mexico, Canada and Australia.

It's the second price hike this year already after EE jacked up the cost to £15 per month at the end of March. Overall, the price has increased by more than 60% since the start of 2023—and EE customers are fuming.

The price hike was revealed in an email earlier this month, with the mobile network casually telling customers: "Hi, your Roam Further pass will be increasing in price from £15 to £25 a month on 18 October 2023."

Some EE customers are incensed by the price hikes. One customer, Bob Wales, said: "EE roaming costs increasing from an already expensive £15 to £25. Wow, rinsing for every penny you can get."

Another user, David Sampson, tweeted: "£25 for roaming when it's free with other networks. You've just lost a 15 year long customer."

A spokesperson told the Daily Express: "From October 18th this year, EE will increase prices for customers wishing to use the Roam Abroad pass to £25 a month. This price rise will apply to new and existing EE customers. Customers on iPhone and Full Works plans will be able to use the Roam Abroad inclusive Extra at no extra cost. For those that don’t choose to add the pass to their account, a flat charge of just over £2 a day will be applied if roaming in the EU."

It's worth noting that if you take out one of EE's plans, such as the Full Works subscription, it will be inclusive of Roam Further and even come with add-ons such as Apple TV+.
