Amanda Holden 'excited' for daughters to move out and details 'healthy' marriage

Amanda Holden admitted she was 'counting down the days' until her and husband Chris Hughes' daughters Lexi, 17, and Hollie, 11, leave the family home. The Britain's Got Talent judge revealed she was "looking forward" to their departure.

The 52-year-old said there's still time for their youngest before they become "empty nesters", but she seemingly hopes it couldn't come sooner. Opening up about life in her 50s, Amanda said she was the happiest she's "ever been".

Explaining why she's more than happy for her kids to move out of the family home, Amanda reckons it's because her and Chris' relationship is still healthy. "You know when [couples] have a problem and realise they don't have anything in common when their children leave."

She told MailOnline: "But Chris and I are like... 'you can leave now' because we still have so much in common, we're excited about being left on our own. We're looking forward to becoming empty nesters!

"Lexi is almost 18 but we have an 11-year-old, so we've got ages to go but right now we do everything as a unit, Chris and I... the children come to everything with us." An empty nest refers to a family home left by children becoming adults.

It comes after Amanda shared sweet photos of her youngest daughter Hollie in her school uniform as she prepared to tackle secondary school last week. She took to social media last Thursday and uploaded touching snaps of her daughter.

Amanda revealed Hollie was starting a new chapter of her life as she headed off to high school. The image showed two photos of Hollie, one of which was taken on her first day of primary school and was placed next to a snap of the pre-teen dressed for her first day at secondary school in her smart uniform, and Amanda candidly shared her emotions over the big milestone.

"Wow. Those years just flew past. Year 7 already. Our little #HRH all grown up. We couldn’t be prouder of her. Smart, sassy and funny. The most loving girl. Let’s do this Hollie," [sic] she captioned the snap. Amanda was inundated with support from her followers and famous friends in the comments.

Lisa Faulkner wrote: “OMG where does the time go?!!”, while Amanda’s Heart FM co-host Ashley Roberts added: “Omg she’s all grown up!!!” Kate Thornton, who has been longtime pals with the Britain’s Got Talent judge, also commented, writing: “She's so grown up!”.
