Ninja takes on Ooni with versatile new £399 outdoor pizza oven
For many foodies Ninja is already a kitchen staple, with the firm responsible not just for some of the UK's most popular airfryers but a host of other gadgets including ice cream makers, blenders and more. But, hot on the heels of the success of their Woodfire Electric BBQ, the firm has unveiled a new gadget perfect for outdoor cooking.
The Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Oven is likely to be of particular interest to home chefs tempted to buy a pricey pizza oven but not sure if it's worth the investment as, with a launch price of £399 it comes in at half the price of Ooni's equivalent indoor/outdoor electric pizza oven and is packed with additional features.
Launching on Ninja's website on December 1, the oven has all the functionality of an outdoor pizza oven, producing top quality artisan pizzas within two and a half minutes, as well as acting as a high-heat roaster and BBQ smoker.
Powered by electricity, the oven also uses the wood pellet smoking technology that fans of the Woodfire Electric BBQ praise for easily adding smoked flavour to meals with minimal fuss and mess.
Osman Ozturk, Senior Director, New Product Innovation at Ninja said the new product built on the popularity of the firm's BBQ, adding: “After years of extensive consumer research, we uncovered a desire for outdoor appliances that could offer home cooks a versatile yet easy way of cooking, without losing the much-loved smoky flavours of a traditional BBQ.

"Our Ninja Woodfire family gives consumers the ability to achieve the quintessential smoky flavour they crave, minus the stress or guesswork of cooking over a flame. With the new Ninja Woodfire Electric Outdoor Oven, Brits can elevate their outdoor cooking set up for year-round alfresco entertaining – no matter the weather – taking their culinary experiences to new heights and creating flavours far beyond what they could achieve with a traditional indoor oven – and faster”
The Woodfire Outdoor Oven has eight different functions, including Pizza, Max Roast, Gourmet Roast, Top Heat, Bake, Smoker, Dehydrate and Keep Warm, and can reach temperatures of up to 370°C, all in a compact form that could be as easily used on a balcony or patio as well as larger gardens.
It comes with accessories including a heating tray, pizza stone, roast rack and accessory frame as well as smoke pellets and a pellet scoop.
Ooni remains the industry leader for outdoor pizza ovens, with wood or charcoal versions starting from £299 for the Ooni Maru up to £699 for premium options.
The pizza giant is not the only big name Ninja is snapping at the heels of with some of its latest releases - the brand has also announced the Thirsti, which makes carbonated drinks in the same style as Soda Stream.
Ninja's other most recent success was in the time-saving Ninja Speedi combination air fryer, which our Mirror reviewer gave five out of five stars to, calling it a 'game-changer for midweek meals' particularly for families and people short on time.
