EastEnders star Bobby Brazier has confirmed he is taking a break from the BBC soap.

Bobby will be taking part on the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing, which is set to air next weekend onwards. As a result, he will be taking a step back from the BBC soap to immerse himself in the Latin and ballroom show.

He has already filmed his final scenes but has refused to divulge exactly how his character Freddie Slater will be making a brief exit from the show. Speaking to the press, he said: "I'm taking a break. I’ve filmed it all, and I’m not telling you. I’ll be back."

Ahead of his stint on Strictly Come Dancing, Bobby admitted he was already feeling tired but was excited to get going with rehearsals. Sharing how he was feeling, he said: "I'll be honest, I'm tired. My body's not used to this. So I'm waiting for it to catch up but it is super fun and we're all meeting each other, making friends and yeah, there's gonna be a lot of emotions and I'm excited to feel all of the emotions - the good ones, the bad ones - just to the fullest extent."

He insisted he has no prior dance experience, but just a love of music which he hopes will help him in the competition.

"I just like to party! House and disco [music], I've got good rhythm when it comes to finding the one, two, three and four beats," he revealed, admitting he was nervous for live TV. He shared: "I'm good, I'm excited, I've never done live [TV] before, so I'm a little bit nervous but I'm happy! I love to dance, to perform live will be scary I think, daunting, but exciting."

Since his arrival in the Square, Freddie has caused quite a stir. He was convinced Billy was his dad, only to find out his father was actually Graham Foster. On the lighter side of things, Freddie has been bonding with Bobby Beale - but sleeping with Anna Knight is no doubt set to cause drama for the trio going forward as Freddie is feeling very guilty.

It comes after Brian Conley reportedly quit the BBC soap after a row with bosses. He has played Rocky Cotton on the programme since 2021 and is reportedly set to leave later this year.
