Let's face it, of all the cleaning jobs that need to be done around the house regularly, one of the ones we forget to keep on top of most often is the oven. You might remember to vacuum your carpets once a week or dust your shelves on a strict schedule, but how often do you actually scrub out the inside of your oven?

Leaving the job for too long can cause grease and grime to build up inside the appliance and can make it an even bigger chore when you do finally get around to cleaning it. But one woman has shared an easy life hack that could make cleaning your oven a breeze - and you only need a few cheap kitchen ingredients to make it work.

Chantel Mila, who posts on TikTok under the username @mama_mila_, shared a video in which she explained she cleans out her oven using nothing more than a bowl of water, some lemon slices, and some baking soda. First, she puts the lemon in the water and heats it up in the oven for around 20 minutes. Then, she sprinkles baking soda inside her oven and uses a sponge dipped in the hot lemon water to gently rub the baking soda into the surface.

In her video, Chantel said the lemon water and baking soda "cuts through grease and grime easily" and leaves your oven "shining" without you having to scrub at it for hours or splash the cash on pricey oven cleaning products. And she wrote in the caption of her clip: "Make your oven shine (without heavy scrubbing!) This mix is my go-to for a quick oven refresh between deep cleans. The citric acid in the lemons helps cut through grease and the baking soda makes scrubbing easy. Will you try this one?"

Lemons can be purchased at most supermarkets, and a pack of four from Asda costs 55p - making each lemon around 14p. A four-pack from Tesco costs the same price, as does the four-pack of "wonky" lemons from Morrisons.

And commenters on Chantel's video were eager to try the hack themselves, while some who had already tried it backed it as a brilliant trick that really works. One person said: "I needed this because we are moving house and the oven needs cleaning," while another wrote: "It works!"
