Emmerdale fans 'rumble' Gail's link to past character and why she's in village

Emmerdale viewers are convinced newcomer Gail is secretly linked to a past character on the ITV soap, and may have a motive for heading to the village.

Gail arrived earlier this year after getting back in touch with her ex Ryan Stocks, having appeared on the soap back in 2019. The pair recently reunited and Gail moved to the village - even starting work at The Woolpack which is owned by Ryan and his mother Charity Dingle.

Gail has been a little clumsy in the kitchen but seems pretty harmless to residents, making her the perfect character to be hiding something. Scenes recently airing have shown her acting off and almost like she has a secret or that something is bothering her.

From snapping at Chas Dingle and appearing down about a mystery issue, she and Ryan then alluded to something from the past. Ryan also appears to be hiding something, while Gail mentioned he had remembered something that wasn't explained.

Ryan was heard telling her: "You can't just pretend it didn't happen," to which she replied: "And what is the point in dragging out old baggage?" The scene left fans convinced something had happened and she was definitely hiding something.

Taking to social media, viewers began speculating she might be linked to a past character, and this was the "old baggage" being referred to. Others couldn't shake the feeling she was up to no good and might be targeting someone in the village, with her working at The Woolpack.

Fans think she could be related to former villager Zoe Tate (ITV)

One theory was that she was out to get pub boss Charity, Ryan's mother, and was maybe even using him to get to her. The key theory, possibly linked to this, was that she could be related to former villager Zoe Tate. A few fans questioned whether she might secretly be the daughter of Zoe, Jean Tate.

Jean left the village as a youngster with Zoe and moved away to New Zealand, but could she be back and targeting Charity over her feud with Zoe? Some fans certainly believed this with one writing: "I have a funny feeling it's Zoe Tate's Daughter maybe her real name is not Gail it's probably Jean Tate."

Another fan suggested: "I think she’s Zoe Tate’s daughter…I could be wrong but she’s about the right age and the history between Charity and Zoe could be a reason for her to rock up in the village."
