Getting your child to sleep can be one of the most treacherous tasks for any parent to endure. If their sleep schedule doesn't go to plan, it can leave them groggy and shattered. Then once they are finally snoozing, you hope that they will sleep in a little longer so you can have a lay in too.

All parents are forced to get creative when kids are simply refusing to close their eyes and settle down. However, one mum has been slammed for her "manipulative" techniques for getting extra sleep, as many parents aren't impressed. She called it the "best mum-hack ever" for when you want to sleep but have a baby and it's all with the help of her partner.

Popular podcast @everything_luanna shared a snippet of their podcast on TikTok, as the host read out the mums savvy bedtime trick - and revealed how she gets a much needed lay in, even though she has a baby. The clip has racked up over three million views - but people have called it "deceitful and manipulative," although others agree you've "gotta do what you gotta do" to get sleep in where you can.

"I've never told anyone this," she explained. "My husband and I came to an arrangement when we had our child that I would do the night feeds and he would wake up around 5:30 am to take our baby girl downstairs for her morning feed, leaving me to get a few hours uninterrupted rest before he starts work."

However, she realised that her baby no longer needed a night feed - and decided to make the most of it, without telling her husband she was no longer needed in the night. Seeing it as an opportunity, she continued: "I had a blissful sleep plus additional sleep-ins most days after telling my husband how AWFUL my night had been and him thanking me for being so quiet as he had no idea it was such a struggle," and added: "I don't regret it at all. Ladies, we go through enough - let the men have some of the load!"

Other mums have hailed her as "winning at mum life", as one user commented: "Winning at mum life! This is the best mum hack EVER!" while another added: "This has the same energy as when I used to say I was going food shopping but I'd already ordered it to collect so I could sit with a coffee for a bit."

But others weren't as sure, "My conscience would be killing me about lying and manipulation," one woman shared. A dad hopped on the bandwagon and explained that he'd be "pretty upset" if he found out his wife did this to him, with another concluding that "Honest is the best policy."
