Strictly's Amanda Abbington suffers painful injury just days before live show

Strictly Come Dancing 's Amanda Abbington has opened up about her painful injury just days into training.

The Sherlock star, 51, is one of 15 celebrities taking to the BBC dance floor this autumn in a bid to lift the coveted Glitterball trophy. However, the training has already left Amanda's feet in agony after getting four painful blisters, which have all burst, and left her having to ice her feet.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press ahead of the show's launch, Amanda said: "They've burst! I've got four blisters, they've burst! So now I'm going to whack them in ice when I get home and see what happens." Amanda also took to Instagram earlier this week to give a look at one of the blisters, writing: "Blood blister… So… dancing in heels, when you absolutely aren’t a dancer, is clearly a blister minefield but, moreover, very much a young man’s game… however, onwards. Back tomorrow for more shenanigans!"

Fans of the TV star were quick to offer their sympathies, writing empathetic comments beneath the post like, "ouch!" and "looks painful!" Others shared advice on how to heal the blister quickly, such as using Compeed strips and getting regular podiatrist checks.

Fellow Strictly star Zara McDermott, 26, has also hurt her feet from all of the dancing, revealing a photo of her damaged big toe on Instagram earlier this week. The former Love Island star posted a snap of her damaged toe peeping out of a flip flop, before joking to fans it had seen "better days" before teasing the identity of her Strictly partner.

Elsewhere, Amanda revealed that despite "blistergate", she is "loving" Strictly so far. She said: "I'm loving it, we're having fun! Having a lovely time!" Talking about the advice she has received so far, she said: "I've had a few mates come out and say: 'Just enjoy it, see it as a competition but don't see it as a competition. Just enjoy yourself and get immersed in it.' I think you do, we're all like a little family, we all get on really well. The dancers are so supportive and gorgeous, ridiculously talented and helpful."
