It's always unsightly when you walk into the bathroom and see stains on the toilet. Worse, when bleach doesn't seem to budge them - and potentially makes them worse. These stains can crop up on the toilet seat for a number of reasons; from urine to hard water stains caused by limescale.

They can be tough to get rid of and if you find your toilet seat has gone yellow and nothing is quite budging it, don't let the hard stains get you down. You can remove them easily without it having to cost a fortune, as one Facebook user found out from the help of cleaning fanatics.

Finding that nothing would remove those yellow stains, they reached out for advice anonymously on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page as to how they could clean their toilet seat. As they posted a picture of their toilet seat stained yellow around the inside, they wrote: "Help! My toilet seat is stained and I have tried so much to get it off but nothing has worked. I've tried using a scourer with pink stuff, baking soda and vinegar, lemon, Viakal and bleach - you name it. Nothing works and I feel so dirty. Has anyone got any advice, or am I going to need a new toilet seat?"

The post caught the attention of hundreds of people, with an overwhelming number of cleaning enthusiasts saying that the best tool to tackle these stains is Flash's Magic Erasers. These are sponges designed to tackle the tough stains many people give up on. "The Flash magic sponge is incredible. I thought the stains on my toilet seat were going to be impossible to remove before I tried this", one commented, backed up by another who said: "Magic eraser! I have just recently discovered how magical these things really are and man are they life-changing." Flash Magic Erasers retail for £2 in for a pack of two. This works out as £1 per sponge.
