"Oh no, I remember this young lad. This is so sad," replied on upset follower. Writing in their official tribute, This Morning bosses said the entire team was "shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Matty Lock, aged just 19".

They penned: "He was a delightful young man, a joy to work with and his passion for vacuum cleaners and general mechanics was infectious. His family came to the studio and they were so proud that he’d turned a childhood hobby into a career.

"We will miss him and send our condolences to his family." Matty was a popular member of the Labour Party in Liverpool's Sefton and Merseyside and was recently elected as a town councillor in Maghull. He had also made a number of TV appearances on This Morning where he reviewed vacuum cleaners - a passion of his.

Tributes have been pouring in for Matty all day on Sunday, as former This Morning star Rylan said: "God that’s really sad. Sending love x." Another added: "Jesus!, he was a great guy. i also have a passion for general mechanics and he was just a ray of sunshine RIP Man."

Someone else wrote: "I'm in shock. He was such a nice guy. Full of confidence and character. I loved that item he done. RIP sunshine. Fly high." Labour North West's account added: "I want to express our deepest condolences at the loss of Cllr Matty Lock.

"He had his whole life ahead of him, with huge potential, who I know was admired and loved across our party. Our thoughts are with his mum and dad and family at this difficult time." Matty's devotion to vacuums started from the age of two when he got his first toy Henry - and by the age of five he was happily hoovering the family home.

Back in 2018, aged just 13 Matty had sold around 300 machines to cleaning companies, private homeowners and even his schoolteachers. He said at the time: "I just find it so satisfying getting them from places like builder's yards where they're full of plaster - being able to clean them up, make them look nice and get them up to a really good standard."
