Sonos announces surprise speaker upgrade - here's how to get it first
If you want a stunning-sounding speaker that’s not chained to your desk then the Sonos Move has long been a solid option. The original model - which featured an in-built battery pack - first launched back in 2019 and now it’s had a reboot with Sonos boosting the sound credentials and increasing the length of time between charges.
In fact, the new Sonos Move 2 can keep the tunes playing for a whopping 24 hours (double the life of the Move 1) without going near a plug. It even comes with a USB-C port allowing owners to use it to refill other devices - such as iPhones and iPads - when they are out and about.
Of course, Sonos is renowned for its audio expertise and the firm is promising that its Move 2 will be even better than before.
That’s thanks to a completely overhauled acoustic architecture which offers more spacious stereo sound and crisp vocals.
Just like the previous model, users can link it to their current Sonos system via Wi-Fi or switch over to a simple Bluetooth connection when in the park or on the beach. And don't worry about taking it on a day trip. Sonos says it's made of tough stuff with a design that can withstand rain, drops, dirt and being left in sunshine.
Sonos Move 2 (SONOS)Other nice extras include voice controls so you can bark orders at it and get a useful response and Trueplay tech makes sure it sounds perfect wherever you place it. You can also use Apple AirPlay 2 to wirelessly beam audio from your favourite apps on iPhone, iPhone or Mac. Spotify Connect is also supported out-of-the-box.

Move 2 is available to preorder from Sonos now, with a global launch scheduled for September 20, 2023. It costs £449.
