The corridors of Liverpool’s famous Anfield home will be quiet this weekend due to the current international break.
A number of Reds have jetted off to all corners of the globe after being called up by their respective national sides. The break gives Jurgen Klopp a great opportunity to regroup as he attempts to improve upon last season’s fifth-placed finish in the Premier League.
Whilst there isn’t all too much going on on Merseyside, there’s still plenty of headlines coming out of the club. Take a look at the standout Liverpool news from over the past 24 hours:
Reds captain Virgil van Dijk has finally broken his silence on his furious reaction after his sending off against Newcastle. The Dutchman was initially dismissed for a last-man foul on Alexander Isak, before then being pictured angrily arguing with referee John Brooks.
Speaking to reporters, the Dutch defender said: "That was not typical for me but that was the red card anyway. I've never got one before at Liverpool, and I think only about four times in my entire career. But apart from that I still started the season well.

Despite the Saudi transfer window now being close, and Mo Salah remaining as a Liverpool player until January at the very least, clubs in the Gulf state are still said to be confident of securing his services.
Al-Ittihad were the main side in pursuit of the Egyptian forward’s signature and saw at least one bid rejected by the Reds. However, it might not be the end of their pursuit.
The Saudi side believe their pursuit of Salah is simply on hold, with the league desperate to sign a player widely regarded as the most popular in the Middle East.

Speaking after putting pen to paper on a contract with Fowler’s Al-Qadsiah, he said: “Imagine a Fowler-Gerrard derby next season - it would be the biggest game in the Pro League by far! And I reckon that would get some publicity way beyond even the level of interest now.”
