Moving into your dream home can be hard work, especially if it needs doing up. Decorating takes up a lot of time, but one couple's renovation was made up even harder when their new house was hit by storms.
However as they went to remove plasterboard ruined by flooding, they made a shocking discovery that left them scratching their heads.
Cathy and Roy Aukamp, 51 and 52, were in the process of moving into their new home in New Jersey when they had to move the soaking plasterboard. But as they took it off the wall an empty bottle of Captain Morgan rum fell out of the gap behind. And then another. And then another.
The find has started a huge conversation (@cataukamp)
It's sparked a huge conversation online (@cataukamp)They ended up finding hundreds of bottles, admitting they were in "pure disbelief". Cathy shared a video of their find on social media, and it has since gone viral. She wrote: "Purchased a home and immediately had a huge flood. Massive rain storm and more water than the ground could hold. This is what we found in the walls of the finished basement when removing ruined sheetrock."
Cathy said: "My husband had to remove wet plasterboard and all these bottles came pouring out of one of the walls."
However the post ended up starting a huge conversation about alcoholism with many sharing their own personal experiences of hiding bottles. Many also shared inspiring stories about getting sober and reflecting on how much their lives have changed.
Cathy later added: "The person who did it saw the video after it went viral and reached out and said there are hundreds more but also that he is now three years sober."
