There's a way to get infinite money in Starfield with this glitch (Image: Starfield/Bethesda)

Starfield has been playable for less than a week, but players have already found an infinite money glitch. Here's how to exploit it and get unlimited credits.

There's plenty of cool stuff to buy in Starfield, from huge ships to powerful weapons and swanky apparel, but you're going to need a building wallet full of credits to be able to afford the finer things in Bethesda's space-faring RPG. And although my Starfield early impressions found the game to be largely bug-free, players have already found a glitch that can get players practically infinite money, as the glitch can be repeated over and over again.

I've tried it out for myself on the Xbox Series X and can confirm that it works at the time of writing, but there's always a risk that the glitch is patched, so if you want to get your hands on a truckload of credits, follow these steps. Infinite money will also help with the Starfield XP exploit which uses the game's mechanics to get all that sweet XP so in theory, that won't be patched out.

Starfield infinite money glitch explained

Before we start, make sure you have at least five or six Med Packs, or similar, on hand before attempting this. Here's a summary of the key steps:

First, make your way over to the game's biggest major city, New Atlantis, which is located on Jemison in the Alpha Centauri star system. Fast travel, or get the train, to the commercial district and you'll find yourself looking directly at a sign when you load in. Turn right and run towards the green foliage, then jump over the fence onto the orange surface.

From there, you should see the New Atlantis waterfall on your left-hand side, with a grey and orange support structure right ahead of you, located in the middle of the valley. From here, we want to get over to the other side. You'll need to get onto the grey base of the structure, using your jet pack to jump onto the ledge. Once you've reached it, keep moving in the direction you've been going and you'll see three small platforms at the top of the smaller waterfall, you'll need to make your way across these by either jumping or using your jetpack.

Once you find yourself on the grey/green rocky area, turn right and head past the white structure on your left, you'll then see another white structure with some white ledges in front of you. Jump onto the first one, then jump onto the second, then hover over the edge and you should see a ledge on the side of the rockface that you can drop down onto. Once on the ledge, turn 90 degrees (with the big waterfall behind you) and slowly edge down until you drop onto another tiny ledge just below.

Turn 180 degrees (going towards the direction of the big waterfall) and edge slowly towards the end of the ledge. When you're at the end, you'll see a gap between the white structure and the cliff face. Jump and use your jetpack to find a way through this gap, making sure that you use your jetpack again to avoid suffering fall damage when you land on the rocky floor.

Invisible wall time! As you skip down the small hill you'll start going up against an invisible wall, do a bit of wiggling right and left and you'll eventually make your way up to another small, rocky hill. Simply run up the hill, aiming for the corner, and you'll find yourself swimming in thin air, as you're actually now under the game's map!

'Swim' up and over the greenish wall and you'll see a gaping abyss. We need to get to the other side, so keep 'swimming' and 'sprinting' to get across as quickly as possible. As you're technically underwater, you'll also sustain quite a bit of damage as you go across, so keep taking Med Packs or similar to keep yourself alive.

As you near the other side, you'll see an opening in between a rock and the cliff face. As you get towards the entrance, you're going to start falling quite rapidly as you exit the 'water', so make sure you have your finger ready to activate your jetpack. As you're landing, you'll see a green wall in front of you, and you'll need to use your jetpack to get onto the second ledge up on the wall.

From there, jump up the wall and start running, and your character should be able to scale the wall quite quickly. Make your way down, keeping the cliff face on your right at all times, and jump down towards the floating white structure below. Move forward until you find yourself with a small mound on your left and a cliff face on your right. Move forward towards the cliff edge until you feel another invisible wall. Then jump up the cliff, using your jetpack if you can, and keep sprinting. This should let your character scale the wall quickly, allowing you to jump left in the gap between the white structure and the cliff face.

If you've followed my instructions to the letter and found yourself looking at the TerraBrew Coffee shop from inside the map, congratulations! You're about to get a boatload of cash.

There'll be a chest underneath the TerraBrew Coffee location, giving you access to a small number of credits and as much coffee as your heart desires. From here, turn 90 degrees to your right and head towards the Jemison Mercantile location, where you'll see another chest which will contain loads of weapons, crafting materials, credits and more.

But don't worry, the jackpot is coming. Turn 90 degrees to your right again and make your way under the map towards the New Atlantis Shipyard. Here you'll find another chest with loads of juicy credits, which can change depending on how much you sell to the Shipyard Technician, but in our run-through, it was 72,000 credits.

There's conflicting information about when exactly these chests reset. We've seen claims of 24, 48 or even 120 hours. So to be safe, go and find a bed or bench to lie down, sleep for five days and repeat the process to earn yourself as many credits as you could possibly want!
